Welcome

I invite you to enter and explore the public parts of my house. My Roman name is Arius Pompilius, and my magical name is EIRR.

Since I lead a quasi-peripatetic life, my travel journal is where I record what I have recently experienced or discovered, in place of a proper blog I never got around to setting up.

The lararium, or household shrine, is where you'll find the festivals of the Roman calendar as arranged by my spiritual ancestor Numa Pompilius, alongside my own notes on the gods themselves.

The tablinum, my office and study off the atrium, holds my essays and commentary — readings, reflections and the odd argument. Just off it, my CV and conference papers are also kept there.

Finally, I invite you to peruse the bibliotheca, or library, where my own writings are gathered, and the taberna, my shop, where you'll find links to my published books (and, alongside it, one belonging to my friend Richard). A few sonnets, and some humour, are tucked away nearby for when the rest gets too serious.
