Hail Janus!
Hail Juno!
We honour you as the gods of beginning,
And we honour too at this time our ancestors and loved ones who have preceded to the otherworld.
May we draw strength in these darkening times from our recalling!
Salve Iane!
Salve Iuno!
Salve di parentes!
Salve di manes!

For the Romans, the Kalends of November signify the commencement of the month – one, like September, which contains next to no ferial commemoration. This is a quiet month. There is little that is noteworthy. For the Celts, by contrast, and for contemporary Western pagan, the eve of the November Kalends coincides with the sabat of Samhain – the time to remember and honour those who have departed.
