Hail Jupiter!
Hail Meditrina!
We rejoice in the gift of wine today – both old and new.
We rejoice as well in the power of healing.
Salve Iuppiter!
Salve Meditrina!

These feriae, named in the Fasti Amiternini as feriae Iovi, doubtlessly connect with the two earlier Vinalia as well as possibly the Liberalia. According to Varro and Paulus Diaconus, on this day both new and old wine are tasted. Verrius Flaccus also mentions the goddess Meditrina, according to Paulus  Diaconus, a goddess of healing. Her name is taken to be related to mederi ‘to heal; cure’. The Meditrinalia, like that of ‘mediterranean’ may signify the middle-earth (medius + terra). In all, this is a vintage celebration.
