According to the Fasti Vallenses, a public sacrifice occurs to day to Salus, originally the personification of health and wealth. With her identification to the Greek Hygeia,, she became known more specifically as the goddess of health. Salus is also the Roman equivalent of the Sabine Strenia – the patron of the strenae or new year’s gifts and wishes for prosperity and happiness (the French étrennes).
